Sunset Coast Provisions: Branding and Website

Challenge

Brick-and-mortar retailer Sunset Coast Provisions wanted a website and marketing materials—but first, they needed help establishing their brand identity.

I was tasked with completing a brand discovery process, creating consumer profiles, writing a brand bible that included Sunset Coast’s mission, values, brand pillars, messaging, and establishing a brand voice that could be consistently applied across all channels for both internal and customer-facing communications.

Strategy

I completed a detailed competitive analysis, including target audiences, regional demographics and an assessment of the eleven competing businesses within a 30-mile radius.

To distinguish the Sunset Coast brand in a region that attracts millions of tourists annually, we led with the idea of leisure, vacation, relaxation and enjoyment, while also emphasizing the founders’ credentials as experienced, hands-on cultivators. (View the full brand document here.)

Results

Sunset Coast Provisions still uses the brand bible I developed to train their new staff, educate their customers and populate their social media feeds. The retail shop is thriving, the website has served them well for several years with virtually no changes, and the business has more than 800 Google reviews with a 4.9 average.
